This setting is extremely WIP. It is undecided what system this campaign would use.
Welcome boys, girls and suspiciously large celery sticks to the lands of Nonsenscia! Where being sensible is nonsensical!
This little, ackamarackus kingdom is a haven for all things weird and wonderful. Everything here is either a tree or not a tree, or both, or even neither! We don't care who you are, what you are, why you are or even how you are (although we do hope you are happy, that would be nice wouldn't it), all are welcome, except Major S. Poileport and his cronies from the Logic kingdom beyonds the Hills with Funny Shapes. They're meanies.
If you are of the adventurous persuasion, I'm sure King Queen II would offer you some delicious snozberry tarts in return for services. You just need to figure out who, where and when they are, we....don't actually know, though sometimes we do.
Much Love,
Flagelicious Ropington II, The herald and heraldry of the bouncy castle and part-time crier
As you may realise from the letter above, Nonsenscia is a strange place with all manor of odd creatures. This world takes heavy inspiration from surrealist comedy, poetry and stories. Think like Monty Python, Mighty Boosh, Douglas Adams, Roald Dahl, Lewis Carol and the overactive imagination of an odd child.
The party can be composed of these strange beings or humans simply visiting, or a mix of both. They will find a series of quests to aid the people(?) of this land, hoping to get ever closer to King Queen and their delicious tarts. Also maybe some of you want to go home.
For a sense of how chaotic this game would be, I would likely allow items like the Ring of the Grammarian and Deck of Many Things. I would also heavily encourage Wild Magic items/builds (even homebrew).
Mostly because everything is. Medieval knights exist alongside Sci-Fi robots and pop culture icons.
Sense is nonsensical and you are not constrained by what some would consider normal laws of biology. If anything, the very nature of this land is encouraging you to bend those laws. Basing your character on puns is encouraged.
Humans do exist in Nonsenscia but any who have been there for more than a few days often develop bizarre personality traits or body mutations that certainly make them seem less human. Examples include the man who can't say nouns, except for the names of fruit, the woman who can only look just slightly to the right of the person she's talking to and John, we don't talk about John.
Nearhumans are like humans but not quite. Many resemble creatures from fantasy and mythology like elves, orcs or animal-human hybrid races.
If playing 5e DnD, then use whatever statblock fits best, the lore does not matter (Custom Lineage is permitted).
Nonhumans are creatures that don't appear even slightly human. Examples include Slippy the walking fish, Sir Raspberry the Blueberry and Entroy the floating burrito. For the sake of mechanics, your creature should still have the same basic limbs and abilities as humanoids (e.g. two tendrils or hand-like appendages for using weapons).
If playing 5e DnD it is recommended that you use the Custom Lineage race to make a character like this.
If playing Cogent Roleplay, the races offer no distinct penalties or advantages to others, these parts of your character should be handled by attributes, skills, vocations and proficiencies.
WIP, may require a chaotic magic system for Cogent or new subclasses/spells for DnD
