The first Ash and Snow Campaign begins in the year 806.
There are four seasons each year.
Also known as the yellow season, Gulsong is the time of new beginnings. The snows retreat to reveal fresh flowers and creatures coming out of hibernation.
Gulsong begins on the 1st of Varmaned and ends on the 15th Elvened.
Also known as the green season, Gronnsong is the time of warm weather and green fields.
Gronnsong begins on the 16th of Elvened and ends on the 36th of Sommaned.
Also known as the red season, Rodsong is the time of red leaves and harvesting crops. It is also a time when farmers and hunters slaughter many beasts and prepare their meats for Hvitsong.
Rodsong begins on the 1st of Skyrmaned and ends on the 15th of Jaktmaned.
Also known as the white season, Hvitsong is the time of snow and ice. Many things grind to a halt and people and animals alike retreat in to their homes to wait out the winter. Being unprepared for Hvitsong can be lethal.
Hvitsong begins on the 16th of Jaktmanedand ends on the 37th of Yulesmaned.
The first Ash and Snow Campaign begins in Gulsong following a particularly harsh Hvitsong.
There ten months in a year. They alternate between 36 and 37 days, totalling 365 days a year. Some scholars have suggested that this calendar is insufficient and will drift slightly every few years unless adjustments are made. These scholars are usually ignored.
Vintermaned is the harshest time of hvitsong (winter), snows can bury entire buildings.
While still cold and harsh, reaching Yulesmaned is usually a sign that you survived the worst and things will improve shortly. As such, Yulesmanned is a time of celebration and an excuse to gorge oneself on whatever supplies remain.

Weeks have six days. A work week is considered five days, with one day off (usually drakisdag), for the purposes of downtime and other features.
