You choose you size (small or medium) and appearance.
You choose three heritage traits from the Traits list below.
Some heritage traits have tags that show the types of people that typical possess these traits. For example, Natural Weapons are common among those with bestial heritage, such as minotaurs and centaurs. Darkvision is also common among those with bestial heritage as well as those who dwell underground or underwater or have ties to the outer planes.
These are only guidelines, not hard rules, and the DM is free to add, remove or change any tags they wish to suit their world.
The default tags are as follows:
You can see in dim light within 60 feet of yourself as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
Your darkvision increases to a range of 120ft.
You have natural weapons, such as horns, teeth or claws, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with it, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier bludgeoning, slashing or piercing damage (choose when you pick this trait), instead of the damage normal for an unarmed strike.
You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
You do not need to sleep, nor can you be forced to sleep by magic.
When you take a long rest, you must spend at least four hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn't render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal.
You have proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice; Arcana, History, Religion and Nature
You know one cantrip from the Arcane spell list that you and your DM agree is appropriate for your character. Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell (choose when you select this trait).
You know one 1st-level spell and one 2nd-level spell from the Arcane spell list. You can cast each of these spells once using this trait. You may also cast them using any spell slots you have. You spellcasting ability for these spells is the same as the one you choose for Arcane Touched trait.
