Adras of House Dakestus was a minor noble within the Kingdom of Nyria (now Republic of Nyria). Adras disagreed with Nyria's move towards democracy and away from the ideas of right of might, often citing the words of one of his ancestors "The strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must" during political forums, as well as arguing that the nation's patron god, Athena was a goddess of war. However, his voice on this matter was greatly outnumbered and overshadowed by others, and Nyria became a democracy (of sorts) anyway.
Shortly after this shift, Adras decided to leave Nyria and form his own nation, better representing Athena's position as a warrior goddess, at least in his opinion. He took his wife, who was currently pregnant with their first child, along with several allies and their own families. They found a plateau overlooking the forest of Western Thelma, and created their new home, The Acropolis.
More commonly known simply as "The Acropolis", this is the current home of clan Dakestus. On a plateau rising above the canopy of the Western Thelma forest. There are a few stone buildings in the Acropolis, however there are no grand palaces or manors.
The most prominent feature of the Acropolis is the shrine of Athena, a 12ft tall stone statue of the goddess bearing polished bronze spear, shield and helmet. The statue overlooks a paved clearing, often used for religious and social rituals, and stands upon the edge of a cliff. When the sun rises, it appears behind the statue, often following Athena's spear, making the metallic tip appear to glow at certain times. Smaller shrines to other gods also appear around the Acropolis, though none rival Athena's, somewhat reflecting attitudes within the clan, at least with the leaders.
The acropolis also features multiple gymnasiums, training and small arenas for training and athletic contests. On any given day, these are filled with clan members, from youths to experienced soldiers. Adras himself can usually be found in these gymnasiums, sparring and drilling soldiers.
A punishing obstacle course climbs the face of the plateau featuring a series of challenging jumps, climbs and swings. Soldiers of the clan are generally expected to scale this course each morning as part of training, pushing the limits of their physical ability and endurance. Falling from the course is incredibly painful, but usually doesn't result in death or permanent injury.
While Nyria has not quite been the disappointment to Adras that he predicted, he does still dislike the nation and those loyal to its more recent ideals. Trading and communication with those in Nyria is still done out of necessity, but the clan rarely negotiates with the officials of the republic.
Nyria's opinion of the clan is unknown, but it seems unlikely that they view as the clan as a significant threat, as they have not yet attempted to destroy or disband the clan.
The Baldara Amazons are a tribe of amazons within Western Thelma forest and the peaks of Vorkyr, they are led by Queen Yala Syldottir. Like most amazons, they greatly value strength and military might, though the Baldara are known as one of the more aggressive amazon tribes. They are also known to be composed mostly of dwarves and humans.
The clan's philosophy aligns well with that of the amazons, as does their adoration of Athena. Some males of clan Dakestus have been known to be the fathers and sons of baldara amazons. The nature of both the clan and the amazons occasionally leads to minor scraps between members, though mutual respect between Adras and Queen Yala usually prevents these scraps from escalating.
